What If No? Poem by Brad Brandon

What If No?

Rating: 5.0

What if after all these years
All these tears
Fighting all these fears
Saving up money
Going all the way
Devoting my time
My passion
My heart
My expression
Giving all my energy
Bringing together all the people
Just to hear you say no more say you don't want your freedom
your future
Your dreams
Don't want a future with me
I don't know how if deal with it
I don't know if I can
I'd imagine I'd change
Become bitter, lifeless, cold
A heart of stone
I'm afraid it would break me
I doubt I could go on
I doubt I'd come back
To the realm of sanity
I don't fear death, not imprisonment, not hospitalization
Out of everything there is only one thing I'm afraid of
I'm telling the truth
When I say
It's losing you

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I had a dream one night when I went to get you. You said no. You said you don't know what love is anymore. You didn't care. You were devoid of emotion. I woke up and I cried. Then I wrote this.
