What If Poem by Ellen Ni Bheachain

What If

If I had known back then what I do know now,
I would have said so much more to you then,
Alas, the twisted tongues and misguided tales,
Were addressed and believed instead,

So, now I see what you were saying back then,
As I feel so Saudade, for time always tells,
For I cannot turn back time,
Oh, but what if I could?

I would have made that trip,
Be by your side,
Knowing now they misguided me with falsehoods of you,
And I ashamed, for I believed them to be true.
