What Creeps In The Night Poem by Jen Van Houten

What Creeps In The Night

Darkness will roam the streets tonight

And the whole world will be in fright

They stay inside and lock their doors

For they are afraid of the night

The shadows haunt them

Searching for a host

The smell of blood is what temps them the most

Possessing bodies is what they like to boast

A soulless entity flees from them

Yes, even a ghost is afraid of them

Closing your eyes

Pretending they're not there

But, alas, they're aware!

You scream with a scare

Oh no! My hair!

It yanks you out

You stare at its faceless face

There is no saving grace

Your soul is bare

You can't tear away

Your body is left cold on the earth

While your soul is taken away
