What Alice Found There, Variation No.1

the interior mirrors weeping inconsolably
comfits in the hold
party favors,

the party being disbanded
and the invitation lost
the left hand vanishing into water

the jeweled sword on the banks of memory

roses under duress
the lands of conquest running away
children with new suitcases

the blue silk lining of
the sky of the mind
