The year ahead
That once appeared hazy
Now appear clearer
Through the dense December fog.
The year that is moving out
Has rolled out
A red carpet
To the incoming year.
As we all wait eagerly
To set our feet
And stride
Into the New Year,
Let us turn around
One last time
To examine the stern
Of the passing ship.
The year that is passing by
Ought to have taught us some lesson
That we should imbibe
And carry forward.
A lesson to reduce pollution
A lesson to reduce bigotry
A lesson to embrace tolerance
A lesson to maintain harmony
Should fuel us forward in the New Year 2019
And further forward
To universal brotherhood.
