Weird Poem by Regan Boyd

Weird

Weird

Is it weird the kind of music that I listen to?
Is it weird that when I look, the sky isn’t always blue?
Is it weird that I only dress in black?
Is it weird that I just want my family back?
Is it weird that when he left I fell apart?
Is it weird along with his stuff my dad took my heart?
Is it weird that when he doesn’t call back I cry?
Is it weird that sometimes I think how it would feel to die?
Is it weird that my dad doesn’t know all of this?
Is it weird that our relationship is now an abyss?
Is it weird that when I look there are marks on my wrist?
Is it weird that there is one for every time my dad has been missed?
Is it weird I keep a cover around him and say I’m fine?
Is it weird that at home my cover comes crashing down all the time?
Is it weird that I hate what he’s done to my mother and I?
Is it weird that when someone asks about him we both lie?
Is it weird that my mom stays locked up in her room all the time?
Is it weird that I consider my father leaving a huge crime?
Is it weird that I wish him the worst that life can offer?
Is it weird that a man can just up and leave his wife and daughter?
Is it weird that I force a smile when I see him?
Is it weird that when he smiles back, I lose control of my limbs?
Is it weird that I wish I could get away with one kill?
Is it weird that if I could it would be him and all for thrill?
So now let me ask, is it weird the kind of music I listen to?
And, is it weird that when I look, the sky isn’t always blue?
