Weary Loving Gaze Poem by Don Nguyen

Weary Loving Gaze

Rating: 5.0

A gaze can embrace,
Can place one's whole affection on the Adored;
The eyes can enclose
her whole object which is being cherished,
Which illuminates in her eyes and her kindled sigh.
Why do I love Him so much?
The reason had been thought of and once contemplated on;
So long ago that it now makes me wonder.
Why? It seems so natural to love Jesus, my Lord,
That I never thought of the reason why any longer.
I just think of Him with all the tenderness of my heart.
What do I do in loving Him?
Anything and everything especially on thoughts and with my will.
I think of Him often while expressing my loving
even when I feel down, wilted, less inclined and kindled.
I try harder when my soul is so quieted and still;
I love Him when I don't feel loved or anything but forcing.
I gaze on Him to whisper that I love Him into an empty space,
For I simply know I didn't face
An unknown God but the Beloved One who is hidden or not found
Like the sun hidden behind white clouds,
Just to illuminate the soul's beautiful sunset.
Such moments of a soul being dry is simply love begotten;
Out of dry emptiness, love is born.
The loving gaze onto the Lord has transfigured my emptied heart
With the gracious scent of the supernatural ancient art.
