We Tried Our Hand At Love Poem by Ray Hansell

We Tried Our Hand At Love

I only have so much more
Left inside to give
I only have so much time
Left in life to live

I wish I had the time
To spend it all with you
But you and I both know
It's something we can't do

It seems that I have become
Somewhat of a burden to you
I know that's the way you feel
You must do what you need to do

You can go your own way
Then I will go mine
It's probably the best for both
So that we waste no more time

So goodbye to you my friend
For a while it was nice
At least we can walk away knowing
That we paid the minimum price

Neither one of us could foresee
The way that we would end
At least as we walk away
We can still call each other friend
