We Should Not Bow Poem by Francis Duggan

We Should Not Bow

We should not bow to threats of violence we should not succumb to our fear
We ought to stand up to the bullies and in so doing to them make it clear
That we will not yield to threats of violence against us to them we should never yield ground
In the heart of every known bully there is a small coward to be found,
We ought to stand up to the bullies and tell them enough is enough
When they find fear for them is not working it is not hard for to call their bluff
Though physically not a powerful person you can force a bully to retreat
But if you yield to scare mongering tactics you are admitting to defeat
We should not surrender to bullies the violent never should have their way
And bullies have not been getting rarer and that does seem a sad thing to say
For bullying tactics they should not be rewarded for fear mongering is morally wrong
To a democratic society such unacceptable behaviour should never belong
We must take a stand against bullies those who believe in violence should never succeed
To make a stand against them not easy but courage in such cases we need.
