We Should Make The Most Of Today Poem by Francis Duggan

We Should Make The Most Of Today

For some of us there may not be a tomorrow so we should make the most of today
The clock on our lives it is ticking and ticking and ticking away
So we may as well try to be happy since life is what you make of it they say
The World's most influential person in Mother Earth's bosom will lay,
You may not be granted a lengthy span so living life you should enjoy
And time never does wait for anyone the minutes and hours tick on by
Some may even live for a century but on each of us a use by date
The reaper will steal the life from us and death for us a certain fate,
There may not be a life hereafter since none yet have come back to tell
Of an afterlife in a far Planet or of places like heaven and hell
And though people they are not equal and life does seem very unfair
When so many have to grow poorer for every newly proclaimed millionaire
But whatever your financial circumstances enjoy each day as if it were your last
For we cannot look into the future and we cannot return to the past.
