You were there from birth,
to our first words,
to when we walked.
You were always there to say I love you,
but now its time to let go,
to let go of the bird and the feathers,
so we can fall to the ground,
and learn how to fly.
And maybe someday touch the sky.
But you keep holding on,
so we take you for a ride,
but when you let go,
we realized we missed you,
so we fly back home,
to where we learned our first words,
so we can replay those first steps.
But after we came back home,
we couldn't leave you again.
