We All Have Our Own Failings Poem by Francis Duggan

We All Have Our Own Failings

A perfect human being I doubt in the whole World you'd find
For perfection a word that cannot be used to describe the human kind
We all have our own failings the imperfections in others I can see
Though I never see the imperfections of the imperfect me,
Only one of courage of him or herself can say
To be a better person for to go I have some way
'Tis easy to believe you are perfect and others to criticize
Though criticism of others you will not hear from one who is quite wise
If we find fault with others our own faults we tend to overlook
Our way to self improvement becomes like a closed book
For to become a good person I do have some way to go
And why should we criticize others when our own selves we do not know
Our only way to self improvement is for us to look within
Our own selves and we come to realize we are not free of sin.
