Wariboko Poem by Raymond Anyanwu

Wariboko

Wariboko,
For every fish we asked
A horsewhip
As we made to cry
Our mouths were to sigh
Our emotions in pressured bottles
Only with time it shall explode
Wariboko,
You were given the early signal
Your ears assumed the house fly:
Only buzzing
Long after the grave is roofed
Wariboko,
A dog has lost its wits
When its owner’s whistle
Its ears do not fit
Like a goat you’ve cornered us
Now we’ve seen the walls
Wariboko,
Can you withstand…?
