I'm just a soldier who serves without shame
My memories of love are what keep me sane.
Back home's a land of milk and honey
Ruled by lust, love and money.
But, what can I say, when I serve her true
For I volunteered to see this war through.
Now, that I'm here, it's hard to conceive
All are the victims of those who deceive.
Brave hearts with rifles pitch tents in the sand.
As darkness falls on the shadows of man.
It's thousands of miles to the steps of my church
Stained glass, steeples and lost souls who search.
Off in the distance I see an arc light,
Bombs being dropped on humans at night.
I've survived wars worst and will never forget
How flesh withers after death has hit.
All of my buddies have been taken away
No more touch football will they ever play.
Zipped in their body bags for the long trip home
Are some of the bravest, I've ever known.
War is a hell, repeated by man
There's death in the sea, the sky and the land.
Lord, I can't help but pray I were home
Back with my love, whom I hope is alone?
War teaches us to fallow God's will
War teaches us to defend and fulfill.
War teaches us the path not to take
War teaches us the price of mistake.
THANK YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE IN YOUR HEART?
