War Poem by Frankie Stones

War

Rating: 5.0

There can only be one winner
But yet there is loss on both sides
A angry army of twisted hopes and beliefs
A dream turned into a nightmare
Friendships smashed and loved ones lost
Nothing to gain but a lot to lose
Lives on the line for their countries
Leaving their lives to fight for nothing
To see friends get hurt and killed
A recurring nightmare
That’s never supposed to end
A shot of a gun
One but that’s all it took
It’s all over in seconds
A young life wasted
On meaningless fights
A country proud
A mother destroyed
Family broken
A life that’s ended
Happiness smothered in despair
Nowhere to run
Nowhere to hide
Just a hole to protect you.
