War Poem by emma 532

War

a battle that is gone awry
a kingdom that is fallen to its knees
ashes to ashes
the coffins are waiting to be filled
the rest have been nailed shut
as the priest weaves inbetween

one that clings to his life
fights for everything that is him
he is given a reprieve:
one month to live

the one who has already shown despair
the one who drops to his knees
the poet who says:
'This is not what I signed up for, '
'This is not me..'

and last, the hopeful, the one
who is already gone, you can
see it in her eyes, 'Don't worry,
I'll be back, I still have to finish
high school'...

don't go, don't go, don't go..

she has been granted a
one month's reprieve

4.11.08: I dreamt of these images last night. I hope I was able to convey them in entirety. The dream rolled out in movie sequence, I took part within certain images.. such as pleading with her/them 'don't go, don't go, don't go' and the others I watched scroll by.. there were more details, more nuances but I hope I captured, was able to convey..how it made my heart hurt.
