Walls

Cutting through
A wall, of ice,
Jaws of vice,
Behind, a wall anew,
Across, life;
Another ahead
Again instead,
A colder, harder knife,
Shroud white;
Weary, bleedin',
Will will win,
Beckons yonder light.

We are as clouds that veil the midnight moon;
How restlessly they speed, and gleam, and quiver,
Streaking the darkness radiantly!--yet soon
