Walk With Me Thro' Serenity Poem by Bernedita Rosinha Pinto

Walk With Me Thro' Serenity

I have walked the road of life
with truthfulness within my mind
with honesty within my heart
with gentleness within my emotions
with gratefulness within my eyes
with peacefulness within my todays
with cheerfulness within my yesterdays
with hopefulness within my tomorrows
with heaviness within my struggles
with contentedness within my achievements
with certainty within my determination;
I am in adherence to love's generosity
I am in obeyance to life's expectations
I am in subservience to God's plan.
I am walking and I tried to hold
the hands of others close to me;
I asked them to walk along
but they paused or wavered,
I kept walking on with no craving for materialism;
and though the travails on this earth were endless
the opportunities for attaining self-satisfaction
were never too less;
I chose to travel further, far and wide
though tired were my limbs and seeking rest;
I still walk on with transparency of my conscience;
that when I ascend on that pedestal
to gain the reward of eternal peace,
the beautifulness of my soul should acquire it
without any difficulty or restriction.
Walk with steadiness unfelt by you
walk valuing what God has given you
walk leaving behind what is not in your destiny
walk without depriving others of what they must have
then contentment will embrace you and so will God
and as you walk, you will walk like me
in greatness of serenity and simplicity;
countless will be those blessings
that will touch your skin and go, yet you will never know,
for the weighing scale of life balances
the good we deserve with what we must get.
