Wake-Up Call Poem by gershon hepner

Wake-Up Call

Rating: 5.0

Wake me up before you go,
be my coffee without cream,
without sugar even, so
you’re the wake-up call my dream
is expecting every morning
when it’s rise-and-shining time,
so that I may have a warning
long before I reach my prime,
which requires that I shower,
brush my teeth, deodorize,
drawing daily from your power
that enables me to rise.
When it’s time to go to bed,
wake me up if I should fall
fast asleep before you’ve spread
limbs on which I wish to sprawl,
for when it is time to go-go,
I would really like to hang out
with you dangling like a yo-yo,
bringing all my Sturm and Drang out.

Inspired by a song by George Michael, Wake Me Up before you Go Go.
