Waiting Poem by Des Agos

Waiting

Now in peace,
I know that you're gone
I'm tired and I'm afraid
falling asleep
to mix your absence
with my sleep.

I look in the dark night
The distant lights
there on the hill
I seem to stars
clouded.
The memory of you
I confuses the mind
only
and shut up in the bed
the crying child to comfort me

trembling
fatigue takes me
abandoning,
appear to me,
your beauty
ever.
