Voyage Of Wonder Poem by Aniruddha Pathak

Voyage Of Wonder

The first time when a man was made to see
That, not Mother Earth, Sun the centre is,
That, planets ply around, not how he sees,
His belief's ship bottomless sank at sea.
Long years back he'd learnt, he's no mere body,
But spirit, a long lost truth all so sound,
A truth, sages for ages made profound,
Yet, truths get entwined in a long journey:
That not just flesh, spiritual being he's,
Which, today happens to live human life,
A luminous thing of love light and bliss,
Call it awareness or intellect rife—
Set out on an endless voyage of wonder,
O to steal yet higher thrills of rare thunder!
_____________________________________________ ‘We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience, ' it is said. Yes, that is what our ancient sages said in Upanishads: that man's truer identity is his atman— his spiritual self; the body is just a vehicle for the soul. This soul constantly yearns for a spiritual voyage to discover higher planes. Today man seems to have forgotten that he is not a body with soul, but soul with a body as vehicle—a vehicle for his voyage of wonder.
