Vigil Poem by Swami Adi Narayan

Vigil

Rating: 5.0

I stayed up all night
keeping watch for you.

I peered through each window,
out of the balcony, into the streets.

I closed my eyes
and sat for hours.

You did not come.

I went outside and walked for miles
in each direction, leading to your doorstep.

I did not see you.

I did not see a footprint as if you had passed
and I had missed you.

No sign was to be found, or felt,
of your passing.

So, I spent my nights and days,
since you last came.

Awaiting the Beloved's darshan. A sacred vigil indeed!

The lover searches for his Beloved both within and without. Such yearning for Union.
