Victims Of The Ploy Poem by Edward Dzonze

Victims Of The Ploy

Rating: 5.0

They wore God
on their faces
To hide the devil
in their thoughts.
Their lips uttered holly,
their ways holier than their utterances
Before we prey,
they gave us their benevolence

The cuffs
in their pockets did not clatter
Instead they tinkled like golden coins
as they led us through the dark
to the promised land beyond mountains and seas,
A land of fortunes and treasures
evergreen through the shift of seasons
Wolves disguised in sheep's fur;
We called them saints,
we thanked them all the way

Far from our homes
the promised land was not far from hell,
Far from our unsuspecting thoughts
we were the fortune, victims of their ploy
Far from our imagination
the promised land was their chase
Far from their word
it was never in the name of humanity
We did as they please
we begged them on our knees

Far from our expectations
their benevolence was a highway to hell
Dehumanized, terrorized and traumatized
At their expedient behest
professionals became laborers,
dignified woman became prostitutes
Far from our homes
we were rendered destitute in a foreign land
We begged them on our knees,
we fought them with word of prayer,
Caged as we were
They had the keys
we had our lost selves in their jungle
we fought them with our resistance
We fought them to this song i sing today.

Wolves disguised in sheep's fur; We called them saints, we begged them on our knees we fought them with our resistance.. blind following can lead us to slavery, in religion if we are not careful and think, we can become slaves....... you have written a poem which is an eyeopener for many. thank you dear poet. tony
