Vanity Poem by Edward Kofi Louis

Vanity

Controversy,
To cover up!
With the last glass of wine;
Cake of dates! !
Heeded to your words,
Hungry for your food,
Overdoing things;
In the middle of the field.

Vanity! !
Becoming real;
As fine as the dust of the earth,
But today, you as poor as the churchrat.

To fall down like a big mango tree!
With primitive ideas;
Eyeball-to-eyeball,
At the popular stand! !
Crumbs from the onwner's table,
The mute spoke,
The maimed made whole,
The lame walked,
The blind saw!
All with the works of the land.

I was naked and you clothed me,
I was hungry and you gave me food to eat,
I was astranger and you took me in,
I was in prison and you visited me!
I was thristy and you gave me water to drink,
I was lonely and you came around with your sweet love! !
But today, everything is covered up;
Because of the acts of terrorism.
