Valentine's Day Poem by Francis Duggan

Valentine's Day

For many years as man and wife
And they have shared the ups and downs of life
But they won't be going to the cafe
For coffee on Valentine's Day
They cannot afford coffee and cake
And he does feel sad for her sake
That on St Valentine's he cannot celebrate
Their love with his faithful soul mate
Together for so many years
They have shared the joys and the tears
The good and hard times and times of self doubt
That living life does bring about
And with sadness in his voice he does say
We won't be celebrating on Valentine's Day.
