Us Trees Poem by Sapher Wolf

Us Trees

We trees are everywhere, there are many of us about
We keep to ourselves more and barely ever shout
We don't like to walk much, with our feet in the ground
Although we grow awfully tall and also quite round
We care much for other's feelings
So when they are down, we often start singing
It doesn't seem to help mush or just goes unnoticed,
But we do our very best to try
When we are in a sad place, with tears everywhere
We are sad with them and we start to cry
When drought comes along we have to stay strong
When storms are passing by we have to be brave
Because at the end of them, some of us have to get shaved
Nowadays we are growing fewer here and there
Sometimes it feels like we're growing less everywhere!
Some of us are forced down to surrender
By the man with an axe and a hammer
Some of us are burned up until we are ash
While others are thinned out, and sold for tons and tons of cash
Now that I look at it, they are less of us every year
And some of my good friends have gotten shaved, which brings a tear
Please help from shaving us trees
Please ask the man, why can't they just let us be?
