Urban Zombie Poem by Michael Liu

Urban Zombie

I stood my ground as the wave swept over me,

watching debris and bodies flow into the sea.

hiding in nook and crannies we strive to feed,

while hunters hunt with no rules or creed.

as we wrap love and hope on seeds,

the system confiscates the fruits with greed.

I stared hard at my photo IDs,

the dull grey eyes staring back at me.

the cage.

i must break free.
