'Unto You I Look' Poem by Essambeh Ebai Essambeh

'Unto You I Look'

Echoes still echo, but unto you I look,
Friends leave, but unto you I still look,
If my family also leaves, who will I really run to?
I still ask myself, 'Is this all there is to life? '
How long till I finally wear a smile?
So many chants only when you're gone,
The best part is how they always chant their song.
Hero to the masses, only when immersed in the earth,
From dust to ashes, there you'll find many friends.
Beautiful smiles, but deceit within,
Ten feet deep, and you're no longer a king.
Gone forever, buried in the earth
How long will you celebrate another person only when they're dead?
