Unrequited Love Poem by Cindy Rheeder

Unrequited Love

What is this love at first sight drivel?
That made my heart swivel?
So hard I tried not to stare,
But such is life - so unfair,
Your hazel eyes locked upon my ice blue ones,
And then the struggle that I feared begun,
I've fallen over and over again for you,
Knowing you'd never feel this way too,
Unrequited love I think they said it was,
My heart always giving you an awkward applause,
Every time you just look my way,
I have no idea - control of what I say,
Sometimes sounding slightly on the brink of insanity,
And feeling as though you laugh at my inanity,
The trouble with this "unrequited love" that I have for you,
Is that I know you don't feel the same way too,
(Although I have my doubts of this at times) .
But I'm so frantically in love with your hazel eyes,
That each time you stare in mine,
I can feel the good kind of butterflies,
And somehow I know I'm just fine,
Yet slightly insanely in love with the unreachable.
