Wounded Soldier Poem by Cindy Rheeder

Wounded Soldier

Here I am, walking this path alone,
Bare feet across this desert floor,
I'm a wounded soldier,
Until I laid my eyes upon you,
I've build my heart stronger,
Hidden it from view,
And here you stand bare to the bone,
I've closed that door,
On love with a boulder,
I know you feel this wounded too,
And don't want to any longer,
Not like we used to.
Here I am, walking this path alone,
Bare feet across the desert floor,
I was a wounded soldier,
Until I realized that,
I've been in love with you,
For quite some time.
