Unidentified You Poem by Mohini Gurav

Unidentified You

People wear masks to please many and one
Unfortunately unable to enjoy the real life and fun.
So truly engrossed in worldly possessions
Lose themselves in creating identities and obsessions
But at the cost of losing their dear and loved ones.

Why do you need to wear so many masks dear?
I am unable to identify you for sure
Your masks make my thoughts unclear
Confused with helpless fear and bringing in despair
I want you to be the real one whom I gave my soul
Even though your masks are beautiful and attractive
They don’t please me and make me fearfully cold.

Shattering my dreams and hopes wide
You wear these masks and my trust is belied
I will go far away as I loved the real you
And not the fake mask that is glued to you.
I fear I may not return as I am badly disheartened
Will take care not to disturb your concentration.

Let me go without any remorse or reluctance
Difficult to forget you and your promises
Made to convince me in penance
Determined to make harsh decisions
As I too don’t want to add worries and tensions.
You live happily forever hidden under the masks
Forget me forever and never ever mention.
