Understanding Poem by Lee Crowell

Understanding

Rating: 5.0

the understanding
falls into your lap
like rain into the gutter
nothing is required of you
the direction finds its way
whether you want it or not

the creator doesn't need to be disturbed
doesn't need to know what you want
doesn't need anything from a mortal
other than distance
the greatest distance possible

believing is overrated
and not related to the end result
your opinion, any opinion
is less than
not greater than
love it if you must because that's all it deserves

search no further my friend
merely observe
there is no mysterious connection
or secret path
no divine light of guidance
no need to deduce,
analyze,
or become one with something

the best news
the only worthwhile information for seekers,
zealots, agnostics, atheists, morons
and everyone else
including the indifferent
is that
the unholy thoughts have no roots

so don't just stand there
with that expression
secretly lend a hand
plant your garden
cultivate you mother
