Under Heaven Poem by Armadillo Poet

Under Heaven

"To everything there is a season,
And a time to every purpose …"

Whenever she would scream in your face,
You'd flinch.

You had it coming.

When you told one the Red Sox sucked,
You were a Yankees fan.

You had it coming,
but at least you stared her straight in the eyes when she did it.

When you called someone a b****,
She said never call her that again,
You said never hit me again,
She cried I didn't think I could hurt you.

You had it coming, she didn't mean it.

When you called the next one a b****,
She kicked your face,
Really now, stop using that word,
Even if they are one,
You had that and a lot more coming.

When you finally allowed yourself to see her unfaithfulness,
Theft, and your humiliation, she raised a haughty eye.

So with one heavy hand, you let her know what she had coming.

She told her family you would beat her.

You to your father: "I beat the sh** out of her"

Your father: you could've gone to jail for that.

You always learn by exaggerating,
Though you've learned nothing by violence.

When you had already cried for the fight to be over,
When you wanted nothing already but to rewind that day,
She declared I want to hit you,
You said you can hit me.

And as always you broke.
