Under A Blanket Of Moonlight Poem by Veena Rajendran

Under A Blanket Of Moonlight

The December mist rendered the grass a glossy sheen
They stepped out onto the earth, bare feet
The night was chilly, as it ought be on a Christmas eve
The wait for a blessed day, and the Nature played heed
Lying on their backs they stayed
Eyes on the starry skies they stayed
Making a wish, upon the twinkler that played hide n' seek
Dew drops on their cheeks, they stayed
She turned to him
He turned to her
There they stayed
Miles apart, cuddling together
Under a Blanket of Moonlight.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
An artist friend of mine drew a picture of two lovers under a night-sky and named it 'On a Blanket of Moonlight'. This poem is what came to mind the first time I saw the picture.
