"Why the full name? "

listen to me,
and listen well.

your name is not you.
it is too used;
too flooded with too many voices
owned by too many people
too meddled with and too far away
from being just you.

your first name is not you.
but your full name can only be you.

it is your story;

tears of joy, goodbyes said
hopes and dreams of the living and dead
the memories you've held dear
the failures you fear
broken dreams, wounds that bled
every time you've fought; every time you fled

every mistake you've knowingly made

it's you and only you;
and nothing you can trade.

so,
if I am to give proof
of my being human;
of my having loved to have felt its loss
only you would suffice.

only, undeniably, you.
