Uncertain Timeless Senses Poem by dimitrios galanis

Uncertain Timeless Senses

Rating: 4.0

Let's cover the distance
between the horizons of our feelings
and meet there where downcast eyes cross,
eyes wounded by the bitter hope's burden.
Come and hear
silence's agony which gaged the words
enclosed in opposing laying trenches
trembling lest seen be the penury
of tackling for life's ascent.
Let's admit
that time is mutated,
it does not anymore run the way known,
let's accept
that future is quenched from the map
of safe cloudless navigation
and is granted to maps
of uncertain timeless senses.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Rendering into english of a greek poem of mine//3 Feb.2016
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

Reading your poem one thought kept coming to mind, how this poem would sound in your original language. Was the original simple dealing with complex thought or was it complex in its wording dealing with simple thought. I will not know the answer but am sure it was much more expressive and beautiful in your language. This I say being the bilingual. Some words just can't be same. But I think you have captured the essence of your thought. A thought that looks at life from generational point of view. It changes with time as the time itself changes the circumstances. As humans we not only have this amazing capacity to adopt to changes but be changed by it too.

My dear Lady, I can not say what a feeling gets one who readds it in english, because i am not a native speaking english.I have rendered my greek poem into english only to mean the same, and not to be felt the same. The latter I did not know.I can not weigh the feeling of each word.Words ' feeling depends on their history in culture, they have a past through which they carry their emotional being. The greek literature's language has a past of three thousand years of which I'm fully aware, it is my life's subject. So every word has its special history, its own wings or burden, its joy or its sorrow.Another great difference with the greek language is that every words has its casuality, it comes from another one in a rational way, that is why all the sciences started in the greek language and still are based in it.Imagine that the european languages use more than a hundred thousand greek words. If you draw them out no science can be meant.....

I would like, dear Hazel, you to be honest when commenting my writing.Sometimes I do not believe myself that I've succeeded to express myself in english the way a native speaking would do it.So, pleas, when seeing something which could be better expressed do note it and let me know, to change it.Thank you.

One of our best best 20th poets William Stafford told us, I want to be on my guard against writing good poems. I want to write necessary poems. This strikes me as a necessary poem. At the center of the poem you assert TIME MUTATED which means we have entered a new epoch in which LIFE'S ASCENT is threatened by the obsolescence of past means, like maps characterized by the stable landscape, apparently this dark reality involves geology as well as morality. What is needed is a new kind of map (I'm sticking with your metaphor) and for the fourth time tonight invoke Ezra Pound whose term PERIPLUM which stretches across the decades to provide a necessary tool, not for us, Dimitrios, but for that rising generation. bereft of the former certainties as you put it. They will add their notes to the map which will be further amended by other voyagers and they will build a new world from their shared discoveries, and neither of us will fully understand the language they create, the habits they pursue, the knowledge they record. But they will prevail, and I suspect they will come back to our poems not for directions but for the intact vision, what Eliot called the still point and the heart of light. since the old maps don'teffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Exactly, dear Daniel, you are qualified and have proven it to understand and feel the movement to a new future beyond the uncertaintities of the present, for the new 'periplous' of our history.Thank you so much for enlarging the point of view.

think that every new generation thinks its travails are unique, but they are basically the same

I do not know what in US happens but in Europe the young generation doesnot want to or better can not get married and get children out of the uncertainty of unemployment. So even love affairs have changed in their prospectives and hopew....Thank you, dear Kelly.
