Ugly Duckling Poem by Patricia Refilwe Baloyi

Ugly Duckling

Ugly darkling
Rejection is fate essence
Rejection discreetly alludes animosity
I am not yellow audacity
Then see ravishing confidence
I am brown-skinned duckling appearance
Still keep rise
I have brown eyes
I have an eccentric style
I love my extraordinary work as a woman
Shine on in and out
Unleashing soft spot
Lifting penciled dark brown eyebrows
An introvert in the making, but extrovert in crafts
My dancing steps inculcate self-esteem
I am not a choreographer
I love my short waved African hair
I love my short waved African hair
Music stimulus soul thoughts
Ugly duckling because of rejection
Phenomenal in the making
An inspirational shy ugly duckling
