Two Soldiers, One Heart Poem by Kellyn, A Grau

Two Soldiers, One Heart

Time, why is it such a twisted thing
It goes by so fast when the heart is whole
Yet when distance puts it’s choke hold
On everything we keep dear to our heart
It seems to lag and make the feelings
Of missing and loneliness liner on

When you’re near I feel so much more
The warmth of your skin lingers over me
Your smell fills my lungs and lavishes them
Your soft hands dance gently across my skin
Sends tingle as each touch meets what it desires

But when time pulls between us
The close feeling of trust
Seems to be tested in more ways then one
The feeling of being whole
Becomes uneven and slanted

The warmth that I have grown costume to
Almost feels like it never will be again
The long well slept nights
Are now uncomfortable and cold
Even with the warmth of a million blankets
With out you, it just leaves a fridge reminder
Of what was for many taken for granted days

So I’ll wait with a heart full of devotion
And a sword that will release me
From the grasping silver strand
Of times discouraging trap

The love that’s been pushed into our hearts
Won’t be faltered by times cruelty
Time can’t break our intertwined fates
Especially when we both face the same gate way
It can’t falter something we both understand
Something we will both go through
And know by name

So with the colors of a worrier
Each a different hue
Yet harbors the inner metallic nectar
We’ll stand together
With a heart full of joint understanding
And a life time of paired roles we play

We’ll be the ones to defy the tyrant of time
With the knowledge of feeling unbroken
And the strength to return to what we perceive
As being one united identity

Notes: This is inspired by wy love and I are both military and will both be deployed. so it's the joint emotions we will feel as we are forced to be apart.
