Two Questions Life's Measure Poem by Dave Cadaqu

Two Questions Life's Measure

Two Questions

Perhaps the measure of life
Is but two questions,
Each soul born must answer:
1. How will I survive?
2. What will I add?

Many will say…
‘Who am I? Where did I (we) come from?
Why are we here? What happens when I die?
These are the unfathomable questions.’

These are interesting things to know if…
They could be known.
But even if they could,
What measure do they matter?

On what matters,
Answering how will I survive?
Avails one to add life’s measure.
Each being alive,
Owns an unfathomable debt to repay.
Leaving more to the whole
Than one takes away
Makes measure a life success.

How will I survive?
This can be the full measure of one’s life
And starting far behind, One makes a full measure.
But those starting far ahead
Have the tools to fulfill One and then some

What will I add?
After One, comes the measure and the burden
A well vast and broad and deep
So many opportunities…

A good person could be the measure
But that should be a given, no matter the circumstance.
Along with being a good partner (If journey not alone) .

So many opportunities, so much to share
Follow your gifts and
You shall be full with measure overflowing
