Two Playful Balls Poem by Paul Hartal

Two Playful Balls

Two jolly, playful balls
march on an unbidden road;
enjoy a happy episode
until the night falls.

Then they sang a song,
it was cheerful and long,
expressing their desire
to compete in ping-pong.

Later the celluloid balls
returned to the road
and rolled over a toad
that croaked in roguish drawls.

"A far-fetched story",
said the toad, eyeing a lorry,
"really who would believe it?
So, let me row my dory."
