Two Oldsters At The Post Poem by Ananta Madhavan

Two Oldsters At The Post

Rating: 5.0

Two oldsters at the post office
Shared their thoughts on time.
One said he could not to fill the day
Without feeling the strain; how to pass the hours
Till supper and await another dawn.
The other dotard had forgotten how he used to feel
Utterly frantic and frenetic, always harried.
But both agreed,
There is no time to be bored.
They reminisced on the tedium,
The senseless odium
Of minutes dripping down
Like grains of sand into
The lower bowl of the hourglass.
They however learned to see
Sameness as novelty
And routine as variety.
Longevity can be fun.But, but,
Careful lest the fun cannot be shared.

I am pleasantly surprised that you were able to read it so soon after I posted it to PH. I genuinely value a poet-reader like you who can take the time and trouble to encourage a companion. We can have much to wonder when we react to the changes we undergo every day, within us and outside our ken. Best wishes, AM
