Two Answers Poem by Simon Chamoun

Lost my path and walked blindly
on a dark road to the valley of death
Eyes wide open wit no vision or sight
lungs empty despite continuous breaths
My shadow ran off, left me unaided
the moon buried away the last light
Noise pulling me reluctantly towards certainty
an evident death with the scent of fright

Between the rotten memories I walked
a forsaken abode where music was lost
Where memories lived and thrived, but
the lack of housekeeping came at a cost
Chamber to chamber and room to room
every corner I'd pass and door I crossed
Not an exit sign or a fresh breeze to pursue
hell but not warm, an abyss of frost

There in a corner laid down one memory
a smile from a distant past, a loving face
Crawled my melted knees littered with blood
to a beacon of hope I longed to embrace
Obstacles falling with every closing step
filling my lungs and hurtling the pace
You shined along and lit that darkness
made bright the route I want to chase

My downfall was damned and repugnant
yet, found hope in a memory somewhere
Found a smile of peacefulness and joy
at the bottommost stratums of despair
Universe blessed when blessing desired
planted courage in my gardens of scare
Responded to a scream for love with love
answered even when I hadn't prayed

From happy days flooded with beauty
found my smile again, in endless memories
Memories of love, care, and true senses
perfection of souls carved in a million pictures
A lifetime of mistakes turned to lessons
goodness held strong on deep heavy anchors
Questions unanswered getting my heart lost
while Love and Love were the only Two answers
