Twilight Poem by Richard Netherland Cook

Twilight

When love was young, and we were too,
Life was bright, and love was true,
The world awaited, and life was sweet,
A future of hope lay at our feet.

In time and space we took our place,
Our future to embrace,
With dreams and hopes our lives to live,
The best that we could give.

Together have we passed this way,
Lived our lives just day by day,
Bound by love our family grew,
To make our mark in what we knew.

Fleeting by the years we'v had,
Some really good, some really bad,
Yesterdays now far behind,
Gone on the wings of Father time.

Our hearts hold on to all the past,
In which our lives were slowly cast,
But memories now are all we keep,
Of passing years now fast asleep.

My how I long for yesterday,
When life was good in every way,
When life for us had just begun,
And we thought we'd be forever young.
