Richard Netherland Cook Poems
Happiness You can't pursue happiness and catch it; Happiness does not depend or start With what happens outside of you,
The Journey Of Life
The journey of life is just a path. On earth to lead our way, A place to stop and rest awaile, For we were never meant to stay.
The Front Porch Swing
Sitting in the front porch swing, With a cool wind in your face, Can cause one to dream. Of another time and place.
A winter night
A winter night is creeping, Up to my cottage door, And I have calmly settled in, Like many times before.
Dear Mom and Dad
Our hearts are sad and empty Since you went away The sadness stays within us With every passing day.
A Band Of Brothers
They are a band of brother's, Who risk their lives for others, They who choose to answer the call, Stand up for country and give their all.
My Sad Heart
I went out to the sea And sat there by the shore Among the cragged rocks and sand, And all the ocean roar.
A Dirt Road
A Dirt Road Somewhere there is a dirt road Long and narrow and traveled much,
Some In Blue And Some In Gray
The evening moon shinning high, Cast its' light on the dead that lay, Out over the fields and woods nearby, Some in blue and some in gray.
Those Little Eyes
Little eyes are watching you Each and every day, And little ears are listening too Every word you say.
Oh! where did it go, The childhood I recall, It passed like the winter snow. Like the summer flowers,
When My Time Has Come
When My Time Has Come When my time has come and I am lying, In a quite place of rest,
I Find Your Love In Everything
The smile that lights your sweet face, The way I feel when we embrace, The trust and hope in my life you bring, I find your love in everything.
The Old Schoolhouse
There it stands, it's lonely form, Beside the red dirt road, Where grows the wild berry thorn, From seed some farmer sowed.

And the thought of a full mind set.
Happiness is found in relationships
That are loving, considerate and kind,
Happy is as happy does,
True happiness is peace of mind.
Happiness comes with the satisfaction,
That you did your best and did not fail,
The knowing that you have ...
