Turning Back To The Dark Place Poem by Dorsey Baker

Turning Back To The Dark Place

I tried to take you
to the lighthouse
but you kept turning back
to the dark place
I tried
to take you away
from the darkness
and the distress
I didn't know
that was where
you wanted to stay
I wanted to bring you home
but you wanted
to go astray
I tried
to take you to the lighthouse
but you kept turning back
to the dark place
You wouldn't leave
the dark place
not even to save
your very life
you tried
to kill yourself
you cut
your wrist
with a knife
I tried
to take you to the lighthouse
but you kept turning back
to the dark place!
