to the dark place

to take you away
from the darkness
and the distress
I didn't know
that was where
you wanted to stay
I wanted to bring you home
but you wanted
to go astray
I tried
to take you to the lighthouse

You wouldn't leave
the dark place
not even to save
your very life
you tried
to kill yourself
you cut
your wrist
with a knife
I tried
