Try Poem by Desirée Lodge

Try

My mother always told me.
“Try something new, they will bring you courage.”
But, I couldn’t do it.
Because, I gave up easier.
At school, my teacher told us to try doing our homework tonight.
I told my teacher that homework was too hard and never tried it.
I gave up.
Always copying someone else’s works and tests.
Cheating on everything;
without trying, I passed school.
Arrived at the college,
what the thrilling!
My new teachers told us to do our works and try our best.
But I couldn’t do it.
Too much works and I never tried my best.
I gave up.
I dropped out of college.
I got a new boyfriend.
We knew each other since 1st grade.
We fell in the love.
He brought me to the mountain for rocky climb.
He told me to try.
I couldn’t do it.
I gave up.
He told me that I was very afraid to try anything.
I dumped him.
I left him and my home.
I went far away.
I don’t want to come back.
I lived in a new house, so far.
I become very old and very sick.
My friends and neighbors came to taking care of me.
I died from illness.
All of those I have see that,
they didn’t give up on me.
All throughout my life, I have realized it.
I was stupid that I never have tried.
Any sooner, I knew that...
My mom was right about it.
I’m the woman; I shouldn’t be standing there and continue giving up.
Right now,
I’m not afraid,
to try my best again in my new life...
