Trees Poem by Katti Janea Wellmaker

Trees

Rating: 5.0

Trees...
Big, Beautiful, Strong Trees...
I used to climb them you know...
When I was younger...
And had no worries...
When the world was only as big as my backyard...
When it didn’t matter if my clothes didn’t match...
Or my hair wasn’t brushed...
I would climb up as high as I could...
And look...
Peer out into a jungle...
Or whatever it was that I wanted it to be...
I would sit up there for hours...
It was my own little world...
One that I created...
One that I made the rules for...
It was a wonderful world...
Full of love and joy and no fear at all...
Oh how I wish you could have joined me...
The fun we could have had...
We would go Africa...
And dive the ocean blue...
We would be safe...
And happy too...
We could play and laugh...
And watch the stars dance above...
But then again you are just a Tree...
So how would you have been able
To come with me.
