Trapdoors To Treasure Poem by Chance Foreman

Trapdoors To Treasure

Rating: 5.0

I bleed my soul
Or open my heart and drip the sun
Upon pages that sting my eyes
With footprints of light

Great poems come from there
But there is nothing better than
reading a poem about the light
in complete and utter darkness
and watching a heart burst into flame
that had forgotten the warmth of the night
especially if that heart was your own

I have found poetry in the cemetery of my thoughts
Slapping the pavement, hysterical
Singing like trapdoors to islands of treasure

I have been run over by poetry
In the garden of shadows
Where lamppost flowers blossom
Like supernovas
Surprisingly hidden in a moment of complete clarity

I have gotten lost in poetry
Adrift in the mist of laughter
Seeping though the cobwebs of yesterday
Where the direction of my soul seemed to point everywhere
Except to the place where my mind longed to be

And so I found you
Poetry
Skipping playfully through the flowers
That I had forgotten
Bloom in my heart like yes
Like yes you belong here
And so when all is quiet
And the stars have gone to sleep
This is where I shall take my rest

Beautiful :) I love finding fresh minds, alive with the same fiery passion for words and the world.
