Train To Nowhere Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

Train To Nowhere

Rating: 5.0

We been on every kind of train.
Travelling in all weather including the rain
Way back in the sixties it was coal fired
The train driver a grumpy whiteman always tired
The choo choo monster spewing pollution
Driver spewing vitriolic in locomotion

It was a bloody struggle to get on the new machines
The diesel locos of the eighties in better condition
The drivers were now either black or white or mixed
Much excitement more passengers if you are late you missed
The slick, faster, neater and modern luxury coaches
The train driver getting friendly as the destination approaches

Fast forward to the quieter, faster and luxurious modern gauge
We no longer can afford the journey nor the mortgage
The train is killing travellers at intersections
We are back to square one calling for divine intercession
This train is taking us where we don't want to go to Norway
This driverless train is taking the people nowhere.

This our train to nowhere
Our train to nowhere
