Touching Poem by Lonnie Hicks

Touching

Rating: 2.8

She has a four inch scar-
vertical-
from above her navel,
to her almost there.

Slightly raised
it has it's smooth parts
and its bumpy parts
which I feel most nights;

each time wondering if
the bumpy will get smooth
or the smooth bumpier.

It at times
seems to signify
her good half
and her better half.

She doesn't notice
since I touch it so often
like a nightly ritual.

It must soothing to her;
she doesn't protest.

'Thanks Dear' she most often says.
I imagine
she imagines
this is our way
of staying in touch
and I feel her
in this.
